Editions Bibliotekos, a small book publisher, is now calling for short, creative work on the themes of Immigration or International Adoption to fill its anticipated second collection, COMMON BOUNDARY. The first book on medical humanities, (PAIN AND MEMORY: Reflections on the Strength of the Human Spirit in Suffering) has been published and includes many accomplished authors. For two great lessons in creative writing–memoir and scriptwriting–see the film An Education and read some of the memoir by the woman who insired the story. An excerpt from writer Lynn Barber’s memoir that appeared as a story in Granta is readable online at The Guardian. The film is playing at many theaters. The screenplay by Nick Hornby works very , very well and you will see the way introduced story elements work. You can compare the voice of the writer, Lynn Barber in her memoir to the film. It’s a great exercise.
