Editing and Development of Essays and Poems - $120 per hour for Writing It Real Subscribers ($150 for non-subscribers--it pays to subscribe!)
I work individually with people by telephone, email or snail mail on essays, fiction and poems. I provide a detailed written response or phone conference. My response will address structure and organization, wording and phrasing, deep meaning and how to evoke it, as well as ways in which your manuscript can be developed for marketability.
I use an extremely gentle but thorough response method. It helps writers bring first drafts to the content and organizational level of finished essays or poems. I keep track of the minutes and let you know how much of the time you have paid for is left after each of my responses and phone calls. Response time is 2 weeks maximum.
If you send work through the mail and want it returned, you must include a self-addressed stamped envelope. If you want a telephone conference, please email me so we can arrange a time to talk.
Book-length Manuscript Evaluation - $650, plus envelope & return postage
I am a developmental editor. I can advise you on shaping your memoir or nonfiction how-to book so others will feel satisfied as readers. The fee includes a one-hour phone conversation with my response and editorial advice as well as extensive notes on the manuscript itself, which, after we speak, I will mail back to you using the self-addressed stamped envelop you enclose. At this time I am not accepting electronic submissions of your book-length manuscript.

- Send 7 - 10 double-spaced pages and have a 25-minute phone consult - $60
- Send up to 11-15 double- spaced pages and have a 30- minute phone consult - $80
- Non-subscribers $10 more per consult.
