Helen Mitchell is a former advisory board chairman for Science and Children's Magazine and a life member of the Creative Education Foundation. Outside of teaching, Helen Mitchell served as a police woman with the Seattle Police Department before being fired when she recognized and hugged a former prostitute who had been jailed where she was on duty.
