Summer Memories by Mona Anderson and Linda Caplan — 4 Comments

  1. Oh, Mona, that was a nostalgic read! I too played jacks alone on my front steps, with a golf ball (better bouncing, yes!) The last line was a corker! Thanks so much.

    • Mona Anderson’s summer memory brought back my own childhood of playing with Jacks! I love how she magically jumped from the junk-drawer-now to her own childhood. Well written!

Catalina by Linda Capman was a wonderful childhood memory that was made current by the vacation with her own children (her mother’s grandchildren) And the author is correct, sleeping spots really doesn’t matter – it’s all about the daytime frolics!

  2. Who Plays Jacks? I enjoyed reading this story. It brought back many happy memories. Grade school recess meant jumping rope and playing jacks with friends, the best part of the school day! Thanks for the memories.

Catalina. I could see the family off loading their gear in the harbor of Avalon and trudging up the hill. What a beautiful place for a summer holiday. Catalina will always hold a special spot in my heart. My husband and I were married there in 1970.
