What I Learned When My Husband Died — 7 Comments

  1. Beautifully written and I can relate to the waiting. What I wanted to know is if the cell phone rang more than that one time as you described in the first paragraph.

  2. That is certainly wonderful feedback, Sam! However, I am also hopeful WIR members will share suggestions for what they’d like to read and learn.

  3. The quality of this essay is so moving! I belong to The Compassionate Friends who gather twice a month and speak of the loss of a child or sibling. Saying Goodbye is one of the most important expressions that so many of them wish they had been able to do. Nina: That nurse was so right: being able to say Goodbye is a gift. Blessings,
    Sam

    • Thank you. It really was a gift to say goodby and to have 3 weeks to do it. I feel for those who suffer loss with no warning. I think we should take tme to say what we would say if we had to say goodby when we don’t have to.
