Sharon Oard Warner on Writing the Novella, a Q&A with Book Excerpt — 3 Comments

  1. Thank you Sheila for this wonderful interview. Sharon Oard Warner was a delight to read about. I loved how she talked about how – “Conflict is one kind of behavior. There are others, equally important in any human life, such as relating, finding, losing, bearing, discovering, parting, changing.”
And, how a Novella is like a screenplay, short and concise liken to a smaller dwelling that holds a few characters, open to hosting a visitor or two, compared with a Novel that holds extended families and friends. Brilliant!

    • I am so glad you enjoyed the interview and words by Warner. She makes me think that most of us should think in terms of writing a novella, whether fiction or creative nonfiction (memoir included). I resonate with the terms you highlighted, Julie. Thanks for the comment.
