  8. Surprised, pleased, and honored again, 3 of my poems (Grave Site Visit; The Diagnosis Changed Everything; What to Expect)
are published in DREAMERS CREATIVE WRITING. Grave Site first appeared in Jewish Literary Journal, but before that it garnered
2nd-place in WIR’s 2017 winter contest! (A big shout-out to Sheila and judge Kelli Agondon for help and confidence-building; also a note urging other beginners to send to the current contest because good things happen with WIR.
Link DREAMERSWRITING.com / click “Stores & Poems,” then you’ll see “Guide Him Through” with an ocean photo/ then click “more.”

  9. Barbara Simmons writes:
    hi,

Wanted to share good news about two pieces of writing that have been published and broadcast! The first, a poem, “Moth Orchid”, will appear in 300 Days of Sun (Nevada State) in early 2019, an anthology. I worked on this first in one of Sheila’s classes and then continued to revise it a bit – and it was accepted in the fall 2018 for the publication. The second, a short “perspective” for our local Bay Area NPR station – entitled “Banksy and the Art of Truth” —if you Google KQED and Perspectives and then search for my name, you’ll be able to hear it (and read it). Have had some lovely feedback from listeners about this piece.

    Barbara Simmons

  10. I am new to WIR, but not to Sheila’s workshops. Last April, she had us write perspectives pieces during a workshop. Using that prompt, I wrote a piece (“Dogwood”) which was published in Perspectives Magazine (June 2018) and the same publication has accepted another piece (“Kittenpants”) for the December issue.

Sheila also taught us about Flash- frankly, a new term to me. After that, I had a piece published at 101.words.org. on June 2, 2018. As a budding novelist, I find writing the shorter pieces a wonderful exercise that does not seem so daunting when I sit down to write. Thank you, Sheila, for broadening my perspectives (pun intended).

  11. A nice surprise for me is that EVENING STREET REVIEW (Autumn 2018) includes 5 (!) of my poems, two of which received
helpful comments at a WIR workshop on Bainbridge Island. “Invisible” and “Mystery.” The website is EveningStreetPress.com,
however, currently there is no link to this edition, No. 19. But WIR members can read past issues on line. They published a good-size journal bi-annually.

    • Nancy, what a great acceptance! 5 poems in one journal! You have been keeping up with sending out and it is paying off. Please send us the link that eventually be there for your poems on their website. And thank you for letting us know about this publication!

  12. I’m a bit late in getting the word out on my new full-length poetry collection “Practicing the World,” which was published by CavanKerry Press in May 2018. The book is about love, in a general kind of way. More specifically, it is about my husband’s illness and death and my first year of widowhood. http://www.cavankerry.org

  13. In July, I was honored to have my first book of poems titled “The Lure of Impermanence” published by Cirque Press in Alaska. Cirque states that these are “poems rooted on the road of observation. In language clear and concise, she makes accessible the catalog of daily life: growing roses, the death of a child, sexual stirrings, work, childhood, the political state of America, or her beloved landscape of the Pacific Northwest. Ultimately, these poems will merge us onto the highway we all must travel—toward the fleeting nature of all things.” Poet, Gary Copeland Lilley, Author of “The Bushman’s Medicine Show” adds that this is “an impressive debut collection of poetry the deeply satisfies the ear and mind…”. I am thrilled to have a first book of course, but I am just as thrilled to have had a awesome writing community that helped shape these poems. These communities whether online or in person are so important, and I am grateful for them all. The book is now available on Amazon or by email at cirquejournal@gmail.com. careyleetaylor.com

  14. Two of my poems have just been published in “Cirque-A Literary Journal for the North Pacific Rim, in addition to a tribute I put together for Seattle poet, the late Joan Swift (which includes tribute poems from other NW poet friends of Joan’s). This is a wonderful regional journal and is currently accepting submissions for their next publication in June.

    • Thank you so much, Carol.

You are so thoughtful, and this is just fun to reconnect!

I hope that you’re well and writing, of course : -)

      My best,

      nancy

  15. Not published until fall 2018, but in that issue of EVENING STREET REVIEW will appear 5 !!! of my poems (what a surprise to me!)
Upon their acceptance, they asked kindly if the nearly-year long wait was acceptable; thoughtful, I thought. As always, Sheila, you spur me on.
On another note, having read a few self-portrait poems recently, this week’s self-portrait discussion and prompts are
now circling my mind. Good timing, I hope : -)

  16. I am happy to announce that my piece “Balancing Act” was published in the online Chaos Journal of Personal Narrative, Fall 2017 issue. The call for submissions was any topic related to the workplace. http://thechaos.life/ This is my first piece published outside of Story Circle Network journals.

  17. I received honorable mention for my story It’s A Small World Revisited from New Millennium Writings. And I have a story on Patricia LaPointe’s blog, changesinlife.org, Interruptions: Life is predictable except when it isn’t. Man plans, God laughs (Yiddish proverb)

  18. Dear friends:
The online version of the Canisius College Alumni Magazine will publish in full my essay “The First Time I Should Have Died” in the Spring/Summer 2017 edition. This essay won second prize in one of Sheila’s writing contests 2+ years ago, and I have been looking for a more permanent home for it ever since. The essay is available at: canisius.edu/magazine. I owe much to Sheila for her advice on revising–twice!–the original draft. So once again this is a publication on which Sheila has had a major influence. As Hamlet says, “For this, much thanks!”
    Sincerely,
    Michael

PS: How do I add a photo?

  19. An essay of mine, “Steering Through the Fog,” is included in a new book, TAKE CARE: Tales, Tips, and Love from Women Caregivers,
edited by Elayne Clift. Twenty-one women share their stories of caregiving to a beloved family member, suffering with illnesses
ranging from cancer and depression to Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Publisher is Braughler Books.
braughlerbooks.com. The book is also available from Amazon.

I share another note: My poem, “Morning Marvel,” is accepted by the lit journal, THIRD WEDNESDAY, which will appear in
    print this September, 2017.

  20. My short essay, “Tres Personas en una Bicicleta, ” about seeing a poor man taking his two children to school on a rickety old bicycle in Leon, Nicaragua, has been published in the Spring, 2017 edition of Road Scholar Alumni Magazine. I do not believe it is accessible online, but I can send a copy to anyone who would like to read it. Leave me an email address and I will forward it.
    Thanks,
    Michael

  21. Dear Shelia et al:
I just received notice that my essay “Tres Personas en una Bicicleta,” about a marvelous personal experience in Leon, Nicaragua in May, 2016 will be published in the Spring, 2017 edition of Road Scholar Alumni Magazine. I will be happy to forward an electronic or paper copy to anyone who wishes to read it.
    Regards,
    Michael Shurgot

    • Congratulations, Michael! Do you think there will be a link to the magazine where people can connect with the article? I’d love to announce that. If not, are you saying that you are ready now to send digital / paper copies now?

    • Dear Judith, I very much enjoyed your write on loving/avoiding writing. Of course, it resonates with me, as I am sure it also
does with many others. And I’m glad to have been introduced to the Brevity blog and is range of creative writes about
writing. Having spent nearly an hour reading through them, I’ve just avoided my own work. After all, wasn’t I learning?
      All best, Nancy Levinson

  22. I’ve been writing disability articles for an online e-zine AlmostAnAuthor.com since late December. My fifth article, an interview with John Elder Robison, “Writing with Asperger’s” is forthcoming March 2017. This will be my fifth article garnering me author status for my monthly column, “Write Disability(different ability)”. Previous articles I’ve written for this column are Writing with Disabilities, Understanding Disabilities-Statistics and Sources for Writers, Writing With Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia-Author, Cherrilynn F. Bisbano, and Interview with Ann Pietrangelo, Writing with Multiple Sclerosis. I blog at my website, kathrynmbjohnson.com. I am working on editing and polishing a plethora of essays from previous classes with Sheila, and hope to begin sending these out in the next few weeks. I feel my confidence to begin submitting my words has come from Sheila’s classes and the wonderful critique and teaching skill she brings to classes. I’m excited about the upcoming class More Write! Write! Write Somemore! Writing Exercises for Writing Prose from Personal Experience as I have a fondness for the personal essay form. I’ve even started writing a new novel and I’ve gotten four chapters into what I hope will become the first of many novels. So much has happened since late December 2016, and I feel blessed.

  23. Hi,Sheila,

Always encouraged by you, I have a CNF coming out in an anthology this spring or summer, “Taking Care: Tips, Tales, and Tough Love from Women Caregivers.” My piece, “Steering through the Fog,” is a totally reworked one, originating in my book:
MOMENTS OF DAWN: A Poetic Memoir of Love & Family, Affliction & Affirmation.” With the editor’s request for a specific
focus, I wrote the story of my difficulty taking the car away from my husband as he declined with Alzheimer’s disease.
The story also offers readers understanding of the problems, as well as caregiver strategies, all enfolded with the text.

  24. December and January were good months for me, which may help with the doldrums in the dead of winter. My poem “Fault Lines” was published in Clover -A Literary Rag/Vol. 12, http://independentwritersstudio.com/site/?page_id=848, “Elegy” was published in SHARK REEF- A Literary Magazine, Issue 29, http://sharkreef.org and “Sicks Stadium, July 5th, 1970” was published in Cirque-A Literary Journal of the North Pacific Rim, Vol. 8, http://www.cirquejournal.com.

In addition, Cirque published an interview I did with Poet Joan Swift, who attended the University of Washington, and was in Theodore Rothke’s last class.

  25. Acceptances YAY!

I have two newly-published pieces in online journals.

“On Line Dating in the Golden Years,” is a CNF printed now in FoliateOak Literary Magazine. (Sheila helped with enhancement on this one)

“What Did They Know” is hard to categorize (neither poem nor CNF) but title
and author name is near top of title page in Sleet. This is produced in
Minnesota, from whence I came, and is an issue focusing on Minnesota authors.

Forthcoming in White Ash is a poem called “Frankenstein.”

  26. I have poems forthcoming in Image, Chautauqua Journal, and Evening Street Review. My poem “Two Panes” is in the current issue of Ekphrasis. I’m excited that my nonfiction memoir The Accidental Pilgrim: Finding God and His Mother in Tuscany is being published by Shanti Arts Publications.

  27. Okay, so this isn’t exactly recent, but something I was proud of, mainly because it was published under “poetry” and what I know about poetry would fit on the head of a pin. One day I played around, copying the idea of another writer of writing a story with each sentence being the same number of words. I submitted it and it was accepted. It appeared in the online magazine The Blue Guitar. It’s the literary magazine for the Arizona Consortium for the Arts. Enjoy!

    http://theblueguitarmagazine.org/resources/Blue+Guitar+Spring+2014+FINAL.pdf

  28. After many years of stashing my writing away, I’ve decided this is the year to get serious. One of the first pieces I submitted has been published. It is a non-fiction article for a Multi-Lingual online magazine called Tongues

    http://tongues.com.au/the-evolution-of-the-stepmother-time-for-a-new-word/

I’ve also got personal essays, lyric essays and poetry that I’ve worked on in Sheila’s classes out there, waiting for replies. Hopefully you will be hearing from me again soon!

  29. Dear friends:
I am pleased to invite members to a reading from my memoir “Could You Be Startin’ From Somewhere Else? Sketches From Buffalo and Beyond” at University Book Store on Monday, Jan 5th at 7 PM. I will have copies to sign and will welcome questions. We will adjourn to Big Time Brewery for libations afterward. See you there!
    Thanks, and Happy New Year!
    Cheers,
    -Michael

  30. Hi, I’m new here, and want to introduce myself. (By the way, I’m already inspired by all of your successes in publishing, congrats to everyone on this page.) I co-wrote a book that was published in 2000 called “Growing Up With a Schizophrenic Mother.” It’s a scholarly-lite book which was based on my dissertation, for which I interviewed 42 people with that experience. As you might have guessed, that was my experience growing up, and it was the book I always wanted to read, but didn’t exist, so I wrote it! Now I am interested in creative writing. I’ve taken some classes and workshops, but haven’t been “showing up” to do the writing. I’ve recently hired a coach to assist me in sticking to a schedule for writing, and that is working. So far I am reading about writing, which has been helpful. I’ve dabbled in writing poems and short stories over the years, but nothing solid. I look forward to learning from Sheila and the rest of you! Thanks, Margaret

  31. I believe Shelia mentioned this a bit earlier, but I am pleased to add this brief announcement. My memoir, “Could You Be Startin’ From Somewhere Else? Sketches From Buffalo And Beyond” is now available from Amazon and at my webpage: https://www.createspace.com/4623773. It’s a kaleidoscope of history and memory focusing on that elusive word “home” and the search for the person I became in the past that I left behind and then reclaimed.
Congratulations to all the successful writers in this wonderful online community.
    Cheers,
    Michael

  32. I am delighted to announce that my poem On My Own is included in The Widows’ Handbook: Poetic Reflections on Grief and Survival. It includes poems by 87 poets, some of them Pushcart Prize winners, a Pulitzer winner and many others. The forward is by Supreme Court Justice and widow Ruth Bader Ginsburg. I am honored to be part of this collection. It’s available on Amazon

  33. Hi,
I have been published in the last 4 Christmas Anthologies with Christian Writers of San Antonio,a front page (C-section) of the Wellsboro Gazette(Pennsylvania), and 4 issues of True Wrods with Story Circle Network. I published my memoir May 2013–The Road Home: The Legacy that was, is, and is to Come. I also freelance write for an educational testing company.

  34. Hi Sheila, Just to let you know that two poems you helped me with will be published in UW’s Bricolage. Thanks so much for your help, Mary Ellen

  35. Hi Sheila, Well, it looks like the lull I was bemoaning has turned into an uptick for this Summer. I found out I’ll have a poem you helped me with, “Girl on the Street Tattoo”,published in the next Floating Bridge Review. Another poem will be published in the Cirque Summer Solstice Issue, due online June 21. Thanks so much for all your help. Mary Ellen

  36. Are you familiar with Sprout Online Magazine?
    http://www.sproutonlinemagazine.com/
The DELIGHT issue was published yesterday, 60 pages of poems, prose, prompts, photos and art. Every issue is full inspiration, presented in a colorful and playful manner. I am honored to be among the contributors in the Delight issue with “Do Less, DELIGHT MORE.”

  37. My latest acceptance was in The Southern Review (http://thesouthernreview.org/), coming out this summer. Also had another one accepted in Found Poetry Review, which is a fun magazine to read.

My father just died this past week, so I’ve not felt much like writing or submitting for a while. Hopefully that will return soon. (Yes, I know about the “writing grief” workshop but don’t feel I’m ready for that just yet.)

    Gloria

    • Gloria,
Thank you for letting us know about the publication in The Southern Review. I’d like to announce it on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest when we can link right to it. Will it be online? If not I’ll use the image of the cover when it is out.

I am sorry to hear about your father’s death. I hope that when you are ready, writing about him will be healing.

      Yours,
      Sheila

  38. Sheila, this is not a comment, but a notice
that the current issue of POETICA, in which a
poem of my appears, is available. The first print magazine “appearance,” for me.
You’d noted it on the Fan Page and asked that I let members know when the issue was out.
I didn’t know where to respond on the fan page so I’m letting it be known here.

And now that I’m here, I’ll add that reading all the works in that one issue helps give me
an overall of what that Jewish-focused publication prints. The range of material spurs me on, as well.
P.S. above is my new email address.

    • Alizabeth — enjoyed your story “Corn Dog Mom and Me” at Bella online. I live in Iowa and corn dogs reign at the Iowa State Fair! I appreciated your efforts to provide a variety of experiences for your child and lessons learned in doing so. Thanks for sharing your work!

      • Nancy:
Pardon my ignorance: Are you referring to my little blurb about my memoir? Not sure why Shelia sent your remark to me, but if you were referring to my statement, thank you! I am just not sure how this on-line chat room works.
        Regards,
        Michael Shurgot

  39. The March 2013 issue of Story Circle Journal (from Story Circle Network) published 50 short pieces on the topic of Silence including one I wrote, “Quiet Delights and Soft Surprises.” Any member may send in a piece related to the topic announced for each quarterly journal Some are selected for publication in the journal. 40. Sheila,
In response to your note asking for accepted poem appearance —

On-line VINE LEAVES LITERARY JOURNAL issue #5
    http://www.vineleavesliteraryjournal.com
“Your Illness Speaking” and “Down A Road”

On-line THE BAREFOOT REVIEW Winter 2012
“I Do Not Recognize My Voice” and “Your Illness Speaking” (they noted that the latter poem here originally appeared in Vine Leaves

Forthcoming in April in a print journal, POETICA, is “To My Husband Who Has Alzheimer’s” Focus of this journal is Judaism.

All above listed poems are in slightly different form in my book, MOMENTS OF DAWN. Recently I have submitted a poem on a different subject; from WIR list of venues seeking submissions, I sent a requested theme piece to SPILLWAY.

  41. In December, I conquered my fear of sending out my work for publication by doing 30 submissions in 30 days. It was a little crazy, but it seems to have worked!

One of those submissions was published a few weeks ago at Wild Violet. “The Art of Goodbye” can be found here: http://www.wildviolet.net/2013/01/29/the-art-of-goodbye/#.USeA1aXFhQt

I have another piece that will be published in March in the Spring Equinox issue of Mused, and will post the link here when it’s live.

Thank you for this forum, Sheila!

  42. My book, MOMENTS OF DAWN: A Poetic Memoir of
    Love & Family, Affliction & Affirmation —
is just released by Conflux Press. Sheila, I will be forever grateful to you; without your guidance, suggestions, editing, and encouragement, this would not have happened.
An Amazon kindle edition is available with the Amazon link, website: nancysmilerlevinson.com,
or key words Alzheimer’s, cancer, memoir. Print edition directly from me at my website or through Conflux Press.

Adding: Five of my prose/poems have been accepted by four journals: Touch: The Journal of Healing; The Barefoot Review; Vine Leaves Literary Journal; and Poetica (Judaism themed). An on-line poetry class with Sheila and four other students was my first such writing prose/poetry with a class. This was inspiring and most helpful.

Of interest to other WIR writers:
Touch and Barefoot Review publish works about illness. Others also dealing with illness are
    The Healing Muse; Bellevue Literary Review;
Medical Humanities (poetry only); Hospital Drive; The Medical Muse; Plexus; The Human Factor; Blood and Thunder; and Pulse. Others exist but many take only submissions from someone in the medical field.

    • Nancy, please let us know when the poems are out in print so we can link to them! And hearty, hearty congratulations on a fine job with your memoir!

  43. My essay “Happily Ever After” was accepted for publication in “The Storyteller Magazine.” Thank you, Sheila, for your comments and suggestions. They were very helpful. Glad I discovered the Writing It Real website.

  44. I belong to Story Circle Network and recently two of my pieces were published in the 2012 annual anthology. The one in the online anthology, FOREVER BANDED, is one I revised after I entered it for review in one of the Writing it Real contests a couple of years ago. The other one, ADDRESS BOOK EULOGY, appears in the printed anthology. For those not familiar with Story Circle Network, give the website a look. Several publishing opportunities and a wide variety of resources for writers and networking.
CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL: FINDING MY FAITH, published last month, includes another of my stories, “Early Mornings with God and Mom.” Check out the topics for which CHICKEN SOUP wants stories,www.chickensoup.com
For example, Lemons to Lemonade — I bet we all have “lemonade” stories to offer!

  45. My book of poems on life with a traumatic brain injury was just released by Pearlsong Press. The title is “A Life Interrupted: Living with Brain Injury. It has gotten amazing endorsements from professionals, doctors, trauma specialists and writers. This is the publisher’s site – http://www.pearlsong.com/alifeinterrupted.htm
Her mission is “Heal the world one book at a time.”

It is available at BN, amazon, and pearlsong’s website, as well as at my website – louisemathewson.com
Thanks for letting me know about this page, Sheila! Blessings! Louise

  46. My essay “Waiting for Cannas” appears in SPRING: WOMEN’S INSPIRATION FOR THE SEASON OF HOPE AND NEW BEGIININGS, from Tending Your Inner Garden, co-editors Debra Landwehr Engle and Diane Glass. Book launch on 09/27/2012.

Two more books are planned in this series. I understand the editors continue to accept submissions for SUMMER and FALL themes. See http://tendingyourinnergarden.com for details.

  47. Per Sheila, “just keep submitting!” as always, she provides the best advice. She is trustworthy. Finally, after two years of persistence, I was published twice this week!
The Pie Queen, an essay about pie baking with my posthumous mother, was published at http://Www.persimmon tree.com, with a warm and enthusiastic new editor leading a cohesive staff full of interest in new writers, older women getting their groove on.

Word Damage is a short essay demonstrating how words can hurt and words can heal. I was encouraged to write this subject at the request of Pat LaPointe, a WIR colleague I met at conference with Sheila. She puts out a monthly letter of much interest at http://www.changesinlife.com, and plans to convert it to an e-zine in the next month. Pat is a wonderful cheerleader, an insightful writer, and has a fine sense of humor. She is a WIR aficionado. Work with her if you can.

There are not enough words to describe how much Sheila contributes to this success. Teacher, mentor, friend, always there for me in each capacity. Thank you hardly covers it.

  48. My story “Brain, Body, and Beat” is one of the twenty-five stories included in THINK POSITIVE FOR GREAT HEALTH, a collaborative effort by Chicken Soup for the Soul and Harvard Medical School, released today in bookstores and also available at online booksellers.

This is my seventh story in a Chicken Soup book. They receive many submissions for every title, but well-written inspiring stories from a unique angle may make it to a final round. Take a look at http://www.chickensoup.com under submit a story for current topics and story submission guidelines if you have interest in this market.

  49. I am proud to share with all that my poem Shalom Haver (Haver= Friend)has been selected by the Women of Reform Judaism to be in their 2013 book, part of their Covenant series, this one Covenant of the Generations. Thank you Sheila for helping me to hone my writing skills and for always being there for me.

    Best regards,

  50. A poem that Sheila helped me with, “Choking on Anger”, was just published in the Summer 2012 issue of Main Street Rag. Thanks Sheila, for helping me so much with the revisions. The poem relates to Sheila’s current WIR issue article, since it’s a persona poem. I also tend to do persona prose pieces for my students with Asperger Syndrome, for educational purposes.

  51. I self-published my second chapbook of Finnish-American poetry, Bunchgrass and Buttercups. My friend, Leslee Dixon Pate, says in her blurb, “Bunchgrass and Buttercups transports us to a collective Deep River that can be found in all of us – with return flights to find things once lost.” Oh yes, and acknowledgements include Sheila Bender, Writing it Real. Also, includes three very good recipes should you be in the mood to cook! Available on Amazon.

  52. On June 7, 2012 Womens Memoirs Blog published my story “Puttin on the Mask,” a Halloween vignette winner. Have fun reading it and leave a comment in the comments section on the blog if you’d like to. Here is the short url:

If you are a member of Story Circle Network, take a look at the True Words section of the June Journal regarding One Summer Day. My piece “A Summer Twist” appears on page 7.
    http://www.storycircle.org/members/pdfs/scjournal.pdf

  53. Guess I’m bragging a lot – May has been a fantastic month, a windfall. Since “Re-Entry” (that’s the above piece; Jenny is the name of the journal), I’ve had three more publications:

Sheila, you may recognize “He just stands there and breathes…”, published at Prime Number: http://www.primenumbermagazine.com/Issue19_PrimeDecimals2.html

Another is one of my adventures in England with Virginia Woolf pieces: “Cornish Pasty” in the new issue of Phoebe: http://www.phoebejournal.com/?p=2291.

And finally my essay about life and sushi, “Love at First Bite” – another one you provided feedback on, Sheila – was published in this year’s print anthology, City Works, at San Diego City College.

I’ve been saying “woo hoo” a lot around here lately!

  54. Shiela,

Do you remember The Blue Hydrangea piece I read at the Writer’s Retreat in Port Orchard a couple of years ago? GreenPrints “The Weeder’s Digest” printed it in their Winter issue of 2011 and even paid for it! And that was written before I learned anything from you or from our twice monthly writer’s group started to meet. What exciting validation. I thank you for taking it seriously and encouraging me. Hopefully, it will be the first of many exciting occasions. For other with tales having to do with gardening or plants or nature, bugs, worms, dirt, successes, failures in the garden, ecstasy, joy, sadness try http://www.greenprints.com/ Tell Pat I sent you!

    • Congratulations, Christine and Rhonda. Now we know of two more publications to consider sending our work to and the place of encouragement in keeping us going!

  55. One of my pieces “A Tale of Comfort” was published in WINTER: Women’s Stories, Poems, and Inspiration for the Season of Rest and Renewal. The book launched on 4/25/2012. Editors Deb Landwehr Engle and Diane Glass plan to put out three more books this year for the other seasons and are still taking work for consideration. See http://www.tendingyourinnergarden.com for information on the current book WINTER or the ones planned.

    • Thank you for this led. I sent Ninja, cutting it down from 1200 words to 600, took all morning. I sent it for Summer. The ladies are a delight, encouraging, interested, responsive. Might have to work up something re Raccoon, ancient visitor to my bird feeder.

    • New Editor Sue Leonard, at Persimmon Tree says The Pie Queen will be found there. Not certain of publishing date. Will let you know when this is solid. Superior magazine. You have no idea how long I have waited nor how much this mean. Midge offered what I never thought of: send same article to five editors! Five! Where is my mind? Self limiting in the extreme!

    • My nephew Reg Carver has just recently published his memoir, Walking Up Lombard. Already,it is a Featured New Arrival in the biographies at Barnes & Noble. Those interested may also download a copy on Kindle for only $3.99!

Reg has a great blog: http://www.fromi2us.com. Check it out!

      Thanks!

      • Congratulations to you both! My piece, Please Pass the Spaghetti, will also appear in the memories and recipes e-book. I sent it in to a Writing it Real contest earlier this year, then revised it and sent it to the women’s memoirs contest. So it appears so far we know that three of the twenty-five pieces in the e-book have a relationship to Writing it Real. I wonder how many more?
check out the womensmemoirs.com contest page for more contests coming up.
