On Meeting the Lost Boys of Sudan, Personal Writing at the Intersection of History — 7 Comments

  1. Betty, this is a very moving story. The way you parallel your own journey with the Lost Boys was spectacular. What else should we do with all our personal losses except place them beside the larger narratives of humankind? It seems this is what helps us all survive our own heartbreak, and this story does this well.

  2. Thank you for sharing your amazingly polished and moving story with us. I hope you get national recognition for this piece. It is so well done. Great work.

  3. Beautiful story Betty. Thank you for sharing it. I love how you connect with the Lost Boys and your own losses with real heart. I feel moved and inspired. Alisa

  4. Betty, I thank you so much for telling this story. I am overwhelmed with the strength of these young men and with your strenght in facing losses and change. I appreciate the way you immerse yourself in the boys’ story and find a way into reflecting on significant life events you have encountered.
